HeatShield Clean & Etch cleans and etches all
clay flue liner interiors for improved adhesion. This
product is designed for flue tiles with a glazing
compound that was applied at the time the flue tile
was manufactured. Clean & Etch cleans
residual dust and soot (not glazed creosote – for
this, use PCR) and chemically roughens the surface
to improve the mechanical and chemical bond of
HeatShield Cerfractory Flue Sealant to all clay
flue liner systems. Clean & Etch is a hydrofluoric
acid generator, which generates an acid etching
material upon contact with clay flue liners (or any
silica-containing surface) in as little as 15 seconds.
It requires no neutralization or rinsing. Once Clean &
Etch has dried, flue tiles are ready for coating.
