Refractory Replacement Panels Made from a naturally occurring mineral and free of fibers. The exfoliated (expanded) vermiculite mineral is mixed with an inorganic binder and pressed into boards or molded shapes of varying density and thickness. Vermiculite panels exhibit increasing strength (durability) as density increases (23-75 pcf+) and exhibit good insulating values at all densities. (Although insulating values decrease as density increases) They have the special property of reflecting radiant heat, which is desirable in heating appliances. The property also contributes to rapid ignition and more complete combustion of fuels.
